International Women’s Day is a global celebration that falls on 8 March every year. The Day was set aside to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women. The Day also brings global attention to issues that affect women which include gender equality, reproductive rights, as well as violence and abuse against women.
This year, the day is being commemorated under the theme ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’.
It is time the world recognized how vulnerable women are to the impact of climate change and acknowledge the role they play in dealing with the challenge.
